Along with Forestry, being an Arborist is considered one of the most dangerous jobs there is.
An Arborist needs to be highly skilled, and qualified to work at heights well above 100 feet with a chainsaw.
Arborists are knowledgeable, they know about the specific requirements to most trees and can provide proper care and consideration. A tree that is cared for is an investment to your property with the added visual advantage when you look out your window.
As Arborists we are trained to evaluate the situation, with regards to removing a tree safely. Our aim is to not cause damage to the property or person. Unfortunately, arborists get calls from clients stating that “My husbands had a go at cutting down the tree but it went terribly wrong.” There have even been situations where the ‘husband’ has ended up in hospital with chainsaw injuries and broken bones!
Arborists are aware whether a tree is dead, dying or a possible health and safety risk. They know the correct techniques to use when; removing limbs, assessing diseased or insect ridden limbs, or pruning for aesthetic reasons. They can even advise about the correct approach to stump grinding.
If tree removal or pruning is required, please ensure that the person carrying out the work is well equipped with all the certified protective equipment required – helmet with visor, chainsaw pants or chaps, steel cap boots and a good sharp chainsaw…..a lot of accidents happen due to the chainsaw not being sharp!
